Marine products trader kidnapped in Zamboanga

Unidentified gunmen seized a businessman Thursday morning at Barangay (village) Campo Islam in Zamboanga City, police said.

Julmain Hassan, dealer of marine products, was on his way home together with wife Munera on board their jeep when the incident took place at around 9:00 a.m.

Police report said prior to Hassan's abduction, his jeep conked out, prompting him to alight from the vehicle and tried to fix it.

While he was fixing the jeep, a white van with six unidentified gunmen arrived and took turns in mauling him in full view of his horrified wife.

The police said that the suspects dragged Hassan into the van and sped towards the west coast of the city.

According to Hassan’s wife, she only reported the incident in the afternoon for fear the armed men might harm her husband.

Authorities are still facing a blank wall in their investigation of the motive of incident. The whereabouts of the victim remain unknown as of press time. (ZS)
